Chinese media say a woman upset over the compensation she was offered for losing her home blew up explosives strapped to her body, killing herself and two other people. The official Xinhua news agency says another 14 people were wounded by the explosion on Thursday in Zhaotong city in the southwestern province of Yunnan. It did not identify the woman. Forced relocations are common in China as local governments raise money by selling land for new development. Residents are not always compensated or are given very little. People have also set themselves on fire to protest such land grabs.—AP
