Singapore-based regional broadcaster Channel NewsAsia has opened a news bureau in Rangoon, reports Malaysia’s state-run Bernama news agency. The network, which has 13 dedicated bureaus in Southeast and East Asia, opened the new office on Thursday. Along with the opening of the new office, the network is also holding a business seminar on Burma that “gathers think tanks, captains of industry and government leaders,” it said in a statement. The chief correspondent at the new bureau will be May Wong, a broadcast journalist with 17 years’ experience, who has been filing stories from Burma since last year.
