Burma is continuing with a plan to launch a television channel with shows in ethnic minority languages, state media reported. The Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV) network will conduct a test broadcast of the National Races Channel next month, Information Minister Aung Kyi said during a coordination meeting for the channel in Naypyidaw over the weekend, the New Light of Myanmar newspaper reported. Deputy Information Minister Ye Htut was also in attendance, along with Tint Swe, the ministry’s director-general. The channel with broadcast in ethnic languages such as Kachin, Karen, Shan and Mon.
