Brunei Sultan Meets Thein Sein on Burma Visit
26 March 2014
Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah of Brunei met with Burma President Thein Sein this week in Naypyidaw, where the two Asean leaders discussed cooperation in the agriculture and energy sectors, as well as “prospects of Myanmar’s rice export to Brunei, and harmony in diverse societies in Myanmar,” the state-run New Light of Myanmar reports. The sultan was on his second trip to Burma, after last visiting in 1998. Thein Sein was in Brunei in October 2013 to attend the Asean Summit, where he received the gavel from Hassanal Bolkiah for the Asean chairmanship, which Burma holds this year.
