RANGOON — National League for Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has used a video message cautioned voters on the need for stability on election day.
“What is important on the Election Day is to have stability,” she said. “Whoever provokes you, please exercise restraint. There could be some who want to rock the boat for various reasons. Be cautious with each other.”
In the message, posted on the NLD’s official Facebook page on Friday, Suu Kyi urged voters to exercise restraint and stressed the need for the people of Burma to participate in the poll to ensure it was conducted successfully.
“If you aren’t included on the voter list, don’t turn back. Don’t make trouble. Tell the officers at the polling stations,” she said. “If you are interested, you can watch the vote count. If we win, don’t cause a commotion. If we are unfortunate enough to lose, face the result with dignity.”
The NLD is widely tipped to make large gains across the country in the Nov. 8 poll.
