RANGOON — The company that operated a bus that crashed on Monday killing 14 people and injuring 20 has been banned from running its Rangoon-to-Naypyidaw service, The New Light of Myanmar reports.
The state-run newspaper said Thursday that the Naypyidaw Road and Water Transport Board imposed the ban on Yazamin Bus Line because “the accident was caused by reckless driving and failure to systematically
supervise the safety of passengers.”
It said the families of the 14 dead would receive 4.5 million kyats, about US$4,500, in compensation because they were insured under the new Special Travel Insurance for highway travelers.
