Canadian International Trade Minister Ed Fast announces a push to open up economic relations with Burma with a delegation of business leaders due to travel to the strategically-placed Southeast Asian nation in September, reports the Canadian Press. Fast will become the first cabinet minister to visit Burma since economic sanctions were eased in April and the announcement that a Canadian Embassy would be opened in the former capital Rangoon. “The reason we’re engaging is because the trade and investment ground in Burma is shifting,” said Fast. “Slowly but surely, the circumstances, the investment climate and the business environment is changing and we would like to see that change continue.”
