The alleged “mastermind” of a plot to bomb the Burmese Embassy in Jakarta went on trial on Wednesday, accused of seeking to “avenge” persecuted Rohingya Muslims in Burma’s Arakan State, AFP reports. Twenty-three-year-old Sigit Indrajid could face the death penalty if convicted. He is the fourth person to go on trial this week in connection with the bomb plot. The alleged plan was thwarted a day before it was to be carried out, on May 2, when police intercepted two men on a motorbike with explosive materials in a backpack. Indrajid, who was not one of the men arrested on May 2, was apprehended 20 days later.
