Singapore-listed Yoma Strategic Holdings, owned by Burmese-born businessman Serge Pun, is planning to enter Burma’s consumer goods sector with the acquisition of an interest in the Asia Beverages Co. group of companies (ABC Group), reports The Straits Times of Singapore. Yoma, which is most heavily invested in sectors such as real estate, construction and luxury travel and tourism, will join hands with investment company PMM Partners to take a 30 percent stake in ABC Group’s assets and a 20 percent stake in the group’s businesses that relate to consumer goods. Yoma will pay up to US$11.1 million for the proposed acquisition, the newspaper said.
