At least 40 Myanmar junta forces as well as a resistance fighter were reportedly killed in the last four days as People’s Defense Force groups (PDFs) and ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) continued to attack regime targets across the country.
Incidents were reported in Mandalay, Magwe, Sagaing and Bago regions and Mon and Shan states.
The Irrawaddy has collected the following reports of significant attacks from PDFs and EAOs.
Some military casualties could not be independently verified.
Regime forces shot dead guarding military-owned bank in Mon
The resistance group Ye Belu said it conducted a surprise attack on regime forces guarding a branch of the regime-owned Myawaddy Bank in the center of Ye Town, Mon State on Tuesday, killing five regime forces.
CCTV footage shows two gunmen firing automatic rifles in front of the building.
Resistance groups attack sentries in Mon State
A military section leader was killed and two other regime forces were injured in Ye Township, Mon State on Sunday when PDF fighters and the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), the armed wing of the Karen National Union (KNU), jointly attacked regime sentries at the entrance of the military’s Light Infantry Battalion 587, said the Joint Operations Command office of the National Unity Government (NUG)’s Military Region 3.
Regime forces raided in Bago
At least one junta soldier was killed and two pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militia members were injured in Waw Township, Bago Region on Tuesday morning when resistance groups raided regime forces on a ferry in Lat Pan Village, said Bago Region PDF.
The resistance forces seized a military weapon and ammunition during the raid.
Regime forces killed in Bago clash
Thayawady PDF Battalion 3802 claimed to have killed 16 regime forces when it ambushed a military unit of 100 troops in the Bago Yoma Forest in Minhla Township, Bago Region on Saturday.
In the shootout, regime forces responded with many heavy explosives. A PDF sniper who gunned down five regime troops in the ambush was also killed.
In reprisal for the heavy losses, regime forces burned down three farm huts belonging to local residents.
On Monday, Phoenix Defense Force, a squadron of Thayawady PDF Battalion 3801, triggered a land mine to ambush a military vehicle in Nattalin Township, Bago Region. Regime forces in the vehicle responded by opening fire indiscriminately. Military casualties in the ambush were unknown.
Regime forces bombed while raiding Magwe village

Hyper UAV Force on Monday said it and another drone team from Gangaw District People’s Defense Force Battalion 1 used drones to drop bombs on a military unit including pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militia members that was raiding and looting houses in Taung Khin Yan Village in Gangaw Township, Magwe Region on Saturday, killing two regime forces.
After the strikes, the junta forces burned down eight civilian houses and retreated to their base in Myauk Khin Yan Village, the drone groups said.
Resistance groups attempt to seize police outpost in Magwe
People’s Revolution Alliance (Magwe) said it and four other resistance groups attempted to occupy the police station in Lat Pan Takarr Village in Minhla Township, Magwe Region early on Tuesday morning.
They had to abandon the operation, however, in the face of the regime forces’ sustained heavy weapons fire.
Military checkpoints raided in Sagaing
At least five regime forces were killed in Ye-U Township, Sagaing Region on Tuesday when Ye-U PDF, which forms Shwebo District PDF Battalion 14, raided two military checkpoints at the entrances of Ye-U town at 1 a.m.
The military checkpoints are known for extorting money from civilians and vehicles. After the raid, all resistance members retreated without casualties.
Military convoy bombed in Sagaing
Brave Heart Army said it and another resistance group used a cluster of four land mines to ambush a military convoy of seven vehicles in Monywa Township, Sagaing Region on Tuesday morning.
The first vehicle of the convoy was bombed while returning to Monywa after transporting regime forces to a village.
A resistance video shows blasts occurring near a moving military vehicle. Details of damage and casualties were unknown.
Military gunboats attacked in Sagaing

Kyauk Lone Gyi PDF said it and other resistance groups ambushed two military gunboats traveling between Kani and Monywa townships along the Chindwin River in Sagaing Region on Monday morning. Two junta machine gunners were gunned down by resistance snipers in the ambush.
On that afternoon, several resistance groups based in Monywa continued to ambush the military gunboats in Monywa, gunning down three more junta troops, said Budalin PDF, which joined the ambush.
Military unit bombed in Sagaing
At least five regime forces were killed or injured in Myaung Township, Sagaing Region on Monday when local resistance groups used land mines to ambush a military unit from Kyauk Yit Police Station that secretly raided and looted houses in Kinn Village early that morning, said Myaung Union Army, which joined the ambush.
The regime forces were bombed while leaving Kinn Village. The resistance group said it witnessed five regime forces lying on the ground with injuries after being hit by the mine blasts.
Military camp raided in Mandalay’s ruby hub
Two PDF battalions and a Police Force under the command of the civilian NUG coordinated with the ethnic revolutionary group the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) to attack regime forces stationed in Yay Htaut Gyi Village in Mogoke Township, upper Mandalay Region on Tuesday, according to the resistance groups.
Two military firearms and ammunition were seized along with some military equipment. Regime casualties were unknown.
Junta fighter jets bomb TNLA bases in northern Shan State
The TNLA said junta fighter jets conducted air strikes using machine guns and 500-lb bombs targeting areas near Ngawt Ngar Village in the territory of TNLA Brigade 5 in Kutkai Township, northern Shan State on Tuesday afternoon.
A military unit based at nearby Nam Hpat Kar Village also used 34 heavy explosives to shell areas near two villages including Ngawt Ngar in the township.
The TNLA said the junta conducted the bombardments despite the fact that there were no ongoing clashes in the area.
Two junta fighter jets also bombed TNLA bases near two villages in Muse Township, northern Shan State at around 10:20 p.m. on Monday night.
Some minutes later, another fighter jet dropped two 500-lb bombs on a base of TNLA Brigade 1 on a hill in Muse, destroying some buildings. There were no resistance casualties, the TNLA said.
