In July 2013, the “The Irrawaddy Magazine” was awarded an Excellence Award at the Asia Publishing Awards in the Philippines. The Irrawaddy was chosen out of 171 entries from 8 countries in Asia as a winner of the Excellence Award under the Content Development Category: Expressing ‘editorial personality’ across channels. This is a significant achievement and recognizes the unique style and content of The Irrawaddy as an independent, hard-hitting, media publication — as well as our land-mark success of returning to publish in Burma after 20 years of forced exile.
