The International Fund for Agricultural Development, a specialized agency of the UN, has pledged US $36 million for agricultural development in Burma, the New Light of Myanmar reported on Thursday. Minister of Agriculture Myint Hlaing met IFAD representatives in Naypyidaw on Wednesday and signed an agreement to make the loans to Alliance Stars, which owns a cattle farm in the area, and toward the construction of a rice mill. The meeting also covered possible bilateral agreements between the Ministry of Agriculture and IFAD.
