A Singapore Airlines plane veered off the runway while landing at Yangon International Airport on Wednesday.
The plane sustained some damage in the incident, but no one was injured, officials said.
A spokesperson for the airline said the plane, an Airbus A-330 model 9V STS, arrived at the airport roughly on schedule at around 9:20 am, but skidded on the runway due to heavy rain.
President’s Office spokesperson Ye Htut reported on his Facebook page that Singapore Airlines Flight SQ998 was carrying 252 passengers, three pilots and 13 flight attendants.
Some 200 passengers who were scheduled to fly to Singapore on the same plane were transferred to a replacement flight, according to Ye Htut.
Win Swe Tun, the deputy director-general of the Department of Civil Aviation, told The New Light of Myanmar that an investigation team had arrived from Singapore to help determine the cause of the mishap.
