Four miners were attacked and arrested by police on Friday in central Burma’s Yemethin Township during a protest march, Democratic Voice of Burma reported. A group of about 70 miners left Myohla Town to continue their march to Naypyidaw when about 100 police officers along with 20 plain-clothed officials wielding sticks attacked them. In recent months, miners from Moehti Moemi gold mine have been protesting a government decision to close down their small-scale operations. These will make way for a mining concessions that was granted to Myanmar National Prosperity Public Company Ltd.
