Wearing Karen traditional costumes, voters were waiting to cast their ballots in front of the polling station. Local people from young to old were outspoken when interviewed by journalists from all over the world. I saw no fear on their faces when they talked to media, even in front of the large TV cameras. This 95-year-old Karen woman, Daw Aye, said to me openly just before entering the polling station, “I will vote for Aung San Suu Kyi.”
