At least 36 Myanmar junta forces were killed in the last four days as People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) continued to attack regime targets across the country.
Incidents were reported in Shan and Karen states and Sagaing, Bago and Tanintharyi regions.
The Irrawaddy has collected the following reports of significant attacks from PDFs and EAOs.
Some military casualties could not be independently verified.
Clashes continue in northern Shan
Clashes continued to break out in northern Shan State on Wednesday as regime forces attempted to raid areas of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Kutkai Township, said the TNLA.
Three military bases nearby supported the ground troops with artillery shelling, killing a woman resident and injuring three others when one of the junta’s explosives hit Nam Hpat Kar Village.
On the same day, a clash was reported in adjacent Muse Township when the TNLA counter-attacked against two military bases.
Military outpost attacked in Karen
The resistance group Cobra Column 2 Venom claimed to have killed five regime forces as they conducted two ambushes against regime forces at the Ukayit Hta military outpost in Myawaddy Township, Karen State on Wednesday.
Junta bases attacked in Karen
At least three junta soldiers were killed and six injured in Hpapun Township, Karen State on Sunday and Monday when Brigade 5 of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), the armed wing of the Karen National Union (KNU), attacked two junta bases, the KNU said.
Army captain killed in Bago
Bago Region PDF said its member Okpho Underground Guerilla Force killed army Captain Tin Myo Aung in Okpho Township, Bago Region on Thursday. A weapon and some documents were seized from him.
Junta forces ambushed in Sagaing while looting houses
Kyauk Lone Gyi PDF said it and other resistance groups jointly ambushed an advance unit of 35 regime forces while they were looting houses near Sithu Log Yard in Yinmabin Township, Sagaing Region on Tuesday, killing seven soldiers.
The resistance groups seized a weapon, two bullet proof vests and three phones along with some gold that the soldiers had stolen from civilian houses. The regime forces also stole logs belonging to civilians from the Sithu log yard.
On Monday, the junta troops also arbitrarily shot dead a woman harvesting betel leaves in Thanpho Village in the township, the PDF group said.
Police station pounded by drones in Sagaing
Seventeen junta soldiers including an army captain were killed in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday when 11 resistance groups jointly conducted drone strikes using six drones against the police station at Nyaung Pin Wun Village, said Civilian’s Defense and Security Organization of Myaung (CDSOM), which joined the mission.
On that evening, regime forces held a military funeral and a gun salute for the dead soldiers at the police station, the resistance group said.
Military checkpoints raided in Tanintharyi
Three regime forces were killed and four others injured in Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region on Tuesday when six resistance groups attacked a miliary checkpoint near Yebyu Bridge, said Tavoy People Liberation Force, which took part in the attack.
Clash erupts in Launglon
Dawei Guerilla group said it and Dawei Defense Team attacked a military unit of 80 troops near a mountain in Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region on Sunday.
Before the shootout, the resistance groups abandoned their mission to ambush the junta unit with land mines, as the regime forces used many civilian detainees as human shields.
In the clash, the resistance groups lost many rounds of ammunition and two mobile phones along with a motorbike.
Miliary casualties were unknown.
