Amid so much disinformation, how do we stay information-literate? The Irrawaddy discussed disinformation and the impacts of propaganda with author Ma Thida (San Chaung), who is the current chair of the Writers in Prison committee of PEN International.
PEN International is a global organization led by writers and editors worldwide, promoting literature and freedom of expression.
PEN Myanmar was established in 2014.
A doctor, human rights activist and former political activist, Ma Thida led PEN Myanmar. She has been writing and publishing for over 40 years and has also served as an editor for several magazines and journals. She has received internationally recognized awards for her work in peace, human rights and freedom.
Last year, she published a book called A-Maze in both English and Burmese, which aims to “help the public understand the political trajectories of Burmese society”.
