US President-elect Joe Biden said Monday that he will nominate his longtime adviser Antony Blinken as secretary of state, putting an experienced diplomat in charge of implementing a foreign policy likely to place greater emphasis on multilateralism and alliances.
The 78-year-old former vice president also tapped former Secretary of State John Kerry to spearhead efforts to tackle climate change, another key focus of the incoming administration, naming him a special presidential envoy for the issue.
