The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) says it seized four more Myanmar junta bases in northern Shan State and Mandalay Region on Tuesday.
The Thayet Taw and Six-Mile bases fell in Mongmit Township in Shan State and Yaw Muu and Five-Mile camps in Mogoke Township, northern Mandalay Region, fell during the day, according to the armed group.
Fighting was reported near Thae Khaw village in Nawnghkio Township, Shan State, on Tuesday and the nearby junta Bantbwe village base used a multiple rocket launcher to fire around 30 rockets and conducted drone strikes.
Junta airstrikes on Tuesday reportedly targeted TNLA forces attacking the regime’s Missile Battalion 606 headquarters in Nawnghkio, the TNLA said.
The Shan media reported that the base fell on Wednesday after days of attacks but the TNLA has not commented.
Shelling and airstrikes were reported on Top San village in Kyaukme Township in Shan State, without any clashes being reported in the area.
A base in Tangyan Township shelled Narr Saung village on Tuesday, the TNLA said.
An 11-year-old was killed and two other civilians were injured on Tuesday in junta airstrikes on Shwe Taung Oo village in Mongmit Township. A monk was seriously injured when a monastery was shelled by the regime in the township.
At least 50 people have been killed and 70 others injured by junta airstrikes and shelling in the 15 days since Operation 1027 resumed in northern Shan State and Mandalay Region, according to the TNLA.
The TNLA is fighting alongside Mandalay People’s Defense Force in Mandalay Region.
The groups say they have seized around 40 junta bases, Kyaukme and Nawnghkio towns and large parts of Mogoke town in Mandalay.
Fighting is reported in Lashio Township around the northern Shan State capital.
Junta spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun on Wednesday blamed the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army of the Brotherhood Alliance and its allies for using improvised rocket launchers and drones to bomb Lashio city, killing 18 civilians and injuring 24 others.
The Brotherhood Alliance launched Operation 1027 in northern Shan State in October last year, seizing hundreds of junta positions, 24 battalion headquarters, around 20 towns and trade routes to China.
The operation was halted on January 10 after the Brotherhood Alliance agreed to a China-brokered ceasefire with the regime.
