The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) says it seized around 40 junta troops, including three under-18s, during the weekend in Lashio Township, northern Shan State.
The MNDAA on Tuesday said it seized the Nan Kyaing outpost on Sunday and detained junta soldiers, including three scouts who were under 18. A video released by the group showed at least five junta troops, including three under-18s.
It said it detained at least 32 troops, including a company commander, on Saturday and provided them with medical care and food.
The MNDAA called a four-day halt on Sunday during China’s political gathering in Beijing but on Monday attacked with reports of civilian casualties caused by junta shelling.
On Monday evening, the MNDAA seized the Infantry Battalion 23 headquarters in Sin Kyawt village between Mongyai and Hsipaw.

The Brotherhood Alliance of the MNDAA, Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Arakan Army launched Operation 1027 in Shan State on October 17 last year, seizing hundreds of junta bases, command centers and 24 battalion headquarters, as well as around 20 towns and trade routes with China.
The operation was halted on January 10 after the alliance agreed to a China-brokered ceasefire with the regime.
The TNLA and MNDAA resumed the operation in northern Shan State on June 25 after junta forces violated the ceasefire by repeatedly bombarding TNLA territory in early June.
The United Nations Child Rights Committee in June 2022 reported that children were being abducted by Myanmar’s armed groups, including the military.
