At Least 16 Myanmar Junta Forces Killed in Four Days of Resistance Attacks

At least 16 Myanmar junta forces were killed in the last four days as People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) and ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) continued to attack regime targets across the country.

Incidents were reported in Shan and Kachin states and Sagaing, Magwe and Tanintharyi regions.

The Irrawaddy has collected the following reports of significant attacks from the PDFs and EAOs.

Clashes continue in northern Shan State

Clashes continued to break out in Muse and Kutkai townships, northern Shan State on Thursday as regime forces raided the territory of ethnic armed group the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), the group said.

At 5 a.m. that morning, the TNLA attacked a military unit of Infantry Battalion 419 and an allied militia group near a village in Muse as the regime forces were heading for TNLA bases.

That afternoon, the fighting intensified near Kho Mone Village in Kutkai Township when the TNLA attacked military reinforcements and militia members.

Casualties on both sides were unknown.

Military units bombed in Magwe

Maying PDF said it and two resistance groups used drones to drop bombs on two military units in Pakokku Township, Magwe Region on Thursday. There were military casualties.

One of the units, from Military Division 101 based in Pakokku town, was bombed while it was returning to the town in military vehicles carrying loot stolen from residents of Kamma town.

The resistance groups also bombed a junta base in the pro-junta village of Nyaung Jit Pin in Pakokku Township on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, at least 17 resistance groups raided and destroyed all junta-controlled government offices except the police station in Kamma town, Pakokku Township, killing seven regime forces.

Junta base seized in Magwe

At least three regime soldiers and pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militia members were killed and two others injured in Gangaw Township, Magwe Region on Monday when local resistance groups including Chin Defense Force (Mindat) raided a military camp near Kant Thet Village, said Yaw National Revolution Force (Htilin), which joined the attack.

Twenty minutes after the raid began, the remaining regime forces abandoned the base and fled.

A total of 15 weapons and some ammunition were seized by the resistance groups at the base.

Junta police attacked in Kachin’s jade town

Two junta policemen were killed and three others injured in Hpakant Township, Kachin Sate on Thursday when troops of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) attacked the police officers in a vehicle as they were arriving at a clinic in Seik Mu Village, according to local media reports.

Junta forces killed in drone strikes in Sagaing

At least five regime forces were killed and 10 others injured in Myaung Township, Sagaing Region on Tuesday when 10 resistance groups used three makeshift remote-controlled airplanes to drop bombs on regime forces including pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militia members stationed at the junta-controlled General Administration Department office and an engineering office in Ma Yoe Kone Village, said Civilian’s Defense and Security Organization of Myaung (CDSOM), which joined the attack.

On the same day, the joint resistance groups triggered land mines to ambush another military unit outside Thar Donn Village in the township. Military casualties were unknown.

Military unit ambushed in Sagaing

Some regime forces were killed or injured in Pale Township, Sagaing Region on Tuesday when 20 members of a joint resistance force ambushed a military unit of 70 troops including pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militia members from the regime base in Zee Phyu Kone Village, said Royal Eagle PDF, which coordinated the ambush.

The military unit was ambushed while using bullock carts to transport loot stolen from residents of nearby Hnaw Yoe Village. A large quantity of bullets was seized from the regime at the ambush site.

A resistance fighter suffered minor injuries in the shootout.

Military base attacked in Tanintharyi

The resistance group Guerilla Dawei said it and Dawei Defense Team killed two junta soldiers and injured many others when they attacked regime forces stationed at a school near the township police station in Launglon town, Tanintharyi Region on Thursday.

The junta troops were extorting money from commuters and vehicles using the road in front of the school.

A video shows resistance fighters attacking the regime targets after secretly approaching their base.
