Myotkone Hospital in Shwegu Township, Kachin State, suffered a junta airstrike on Sunday, killing a nine-year-old and wounding 17 civilians, including medical staff.
The NUG said targeting the healthcare sector contravened international law and amounted to a war crime under the Geneva Conventions and United Nations Security Council declarations.
A regime airstrike damaged the Khin Shay village clinic in Pauk Township, Magwe Region, on Tuesday, seriously injuring a child.
The Mobile Medical Network in Tamu Township, Sagaing Region, which treats civilians, welcomed the NUG’s statement.
“The people of Myanmar all suffer greatly under the regime,” Daw Radi Ohm of the team said.
The NUG stated that it always works with medics working for the public while calling on junta staff to quit and for unity in the fight against the regime
Since the 2021 coup, at least 343 hospitals and clinics across the country have been destroyed with 104 health-care staff killed and 131 injured by the junta, the NUG reported in April.
An estimated 5,233 people have been killed by the junta since the coup, the Assistance Association For Political Prisoners reported on May 5.
