Vietnamese coast guards seized a Burmese vessel on Tuesday for allegedly smuggling diesel oil into Vietnam, reports Thanh Nien News. The newspaper said that the patrolling coast guards approached two suspicious-looking vessels some 21 nautical miles southeast of the Ninh Co estuary in Vietnam’s Nam Dinh Province and arrested crew members caught transferring diesel oil to a Vietnamese boat. Members of the Burmese boat’s crew—consisting of its captain and 14 Burmese and two Chinese sailors—confessed to attempting to illegally sell 5,000 tons of oil.
