A US energy firm has won a contract to set up a 100-megawatt gas fired power station in central Burma’s Mandalay region, according to an announcement. Florida-based APR Energy said Wednesday it had signed a contract with the government to install a turnkey plant in Kyaukse Township, which “will provide a bridging solution for the medium term while the country develops its long-term power generation infrastructure.” The statement did not say how much the deal is worth, but it said the state-owned Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise would buy at least 82MW under the contract, which will begin between April and June and run until late 2015.
