Viaspace, Inc, a California-based alternative energy company, announced on Tuesday that it had reached an agreement with Burma’s June Industry Ltd to grow Giant King Grass, a trademarked species of grass that is used for renewable electricity generation. Viaspace CEO Dr. Carl Kukkonen and June Managing Director Dr. Nu Nu Win signed development and confidentiality agreements at a ceremony held at the Chatrium Hotel in Rangoon, according to a report by CisionWire. Kukkonen said the grass could be used “not only for electricity generation, but also for biofuels and other applications.”
