The US senior adviser on Burma, Judith Beth Cefkin, will arrive in the country next Monday, following stopovers in the UK and Bangladesh, reports Bangladeshi newspaper The Financial Express. Cefkin is scheduled to visit Rangoon, Naypyidaw and other Burmese cities during her stay from Feb. 3 to 8. According to a US State Department media note, she will meet with senior government officials and civil society groups to discuss US policies, Burma’s peace process and human rights situation, and international support for local reform efforts. In Bangladesh, which she is visiting for the first time since she assumed her current position in September 2013, she is expected to discuss the Rohingya issue.
