Turkey is seeking to bring the plight of Rohingya Muslims in Burma onto the international agenda by calling on the global community to end its silence on the situation. Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Wednesday that Turkey was concerned over the treatment of the Rohingya in Burma’s western Arakan State which has seen fierce sectarian violence in recent weeks. “We expect more sensibility from the international community for the Rohingya Muslims, who left their homes, belongings and land,” Erdoğan was quoted by Today’s Zaman.
