Japanese electronics maker Toshiba has opened a branch office in Rangoon, the company announced in a press release on Wednesday. “We hope to contribute to Myanmar’s development across our product lines, from infrastructure solutions to home electronics,” said Hidejiro Shimomitsu, the corporate senior executive vice president of Toshiba Corporation at a ceremony to mark the occasion. Tetsuya Yoneda, the head of the new branch office, said that the company “can support providing stable power generation and transmission solutions that provide the backbone for economic growth for Myanmar.” Also on Wednesday, Toshiba announced that it had won an order to supply a compact, energy-efficient modular data center for the securities exchange system in Burma.
