Acting Special Representative and Policy Coordinator for Burma W. Patrick Murphy will visit Burma on Dec. 12-18, the US State Department announced on Thursday. Murphy will consult with Burmese government officials and ethnic and civil society leaders in Rangoon and Naypyidaw, and also attend an anti-human trafficking event (EXIT) organized by MTV. His trip will include stopovers in Brussels, London, New Delhi and Beijing where he will “meet with senior government officials, NGOs, think tanks, academics, and civil society groups to discuss US policy toward Burma and coordination of efforts to support and strengthen reform and reconciliation efforts in that country,” a State Department statement said.
