President Thein Sein met this week with a Thai delegation led by parliamentary Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont, according to Eleven News. The Wednesday meeting focused on business and trade ties as well as military relations between the neighboring Southeast Asian nations. Also in attendance were Burmese ministers Wunna Maung Lwin, Aung Kyi and Soe Maung. Among other topics, Thein Sein reportedly discussed the Dawei deep-sea port project, a Thai-sponsored initiative in Tenasserim Division that has struggled to attract funding for its $50 billion plans, which include development of a major shipping port and special economic zone (SEZ).
