Activists for Islamic organization Darsgah-e-Jihad-O-Shahadat staged a dharna protest in Hyderabad on Thursday during which an effigy of President Thein Sein was burned to protest the killing of Rohingyas in Burma. Slogans was shouted denouncing the Napyidaw’s government’s treatment of Muslims in western Burma’s Arakan State as group leaders Mohammed Majid and Shaikh Khalid Saifullah led the demonstration around the southern Indian city’s ’s Madina Junction. The activists intended to raise awareness of the alleged killing of Rohingya Muslims by the Burmese military and called on international human rights groups to address the issue.
