Thailand and Burma agreed on Monday to complete the first phase of the Dawei deep-sea port and special economic zone project in southern Burma by 2015, in time for the launch of the Asean Economic Community, according to a report by The Bangkok Post. Burmese President Thein Sein met Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra for 25 minutes on the sidelines of the Asean Summit in Phnom Penh to discuss the project. It was the second time the leaders of both countries officially reiterated their commitment to the project, which was initially proposed a decade ago.
