Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will kick off the New Year by traveling to Chin State, local media report. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate is set to visit the western Burma state on Jan. 6, in her first visit to the country’s poorest state in a decade, according to Chinland Guardian news agency. It reported that she would visit Tedim and Falam townships to discuss issues related to constitutional amendments from Jan. 7-9. She will also meet with local members of her National League for Democracy Party (NLD).
