Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi is slated to attend a human rights forum in the Czech Republic in September, AFP reports. Also scheduled to attend are the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama and South Africa’s last white president, Frederik Willem de Klerk. A spokesperson for the event said no official meeting was planned between Suu Kyi and her fellow Nobel laureates, but didn’t rule out the possibility of private discussions. The Dalai Lama, who is revered worldwide as a Buddhist leader, has expressed concern about attacks on Muslims in Burma by Buddhist mobs. A meeting between Suu Kyi and the Tibetan leader would likely anger Beijing, which regards him as a separatist.
