Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will address the 8,000-strong Burmese community of San Francisco during her trip to the US in the coming weeks. She is also scheduled to address an audience in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on Sept. 25 where some 4,000 Burmese live. The NLD leader has been invited to accept the Congressional Gold Medal, the US Congress’ highest civilian honor in Washington DC on Sept. 19, and will also receive the Atlantic Council’s Global Citizen Award in New York on Sept. 21. The US State Department said that Suu Kyi will be invited to meet with government officials during her visit.
