Burma’s opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi on Sunday met with the Dalai Lama in Prague, Czech Republic, risking the ire of China, according to AFP. The AFP reported that the organizers of the Forum 2000 Conference confirmed a private meeting between the National League for Democracy chairperson and Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader. The report said Suu Kyi risked prompting Chinese anger with the meeting, since Beijing has long opposed foreign dignitaries meeting with the Dalai Lama, who left his homeland for India in 1959 after a failed uprising against Chinese rule.
