Burmese medal winners at the Southeast Asian Games will receive smaller bonuses than initially promised, DVB reports. The Ministry of Sports originally offered bonuses of 10 million kyats (US$10,000) for gold, 5 million kyats for silver and 3 million kyats for bronze. Without giving a reason, an official from the national billiards and snooker squad told DVB on Friday that the bonuses would be cut to 700,000 kyats for gold, 500,000 kyats for silver and 300,000 kyats for bronze. Burmese officials have said the country aims to secure 100 gold medals at the regional sporting competition.
