A Russian warship is due to visit Rangoon’s Thilawa port this week to strengthen military-to-military ties, according to a report in the state-owned New Light of Myanmar newspaper. Part of Russia’s pacific fleet, led by the 163-meter Admiral Vinogradov will be at the sea port from Wednesday until Nov. 18, the report said. “The large anti-submarine warship Admiral Vinogradov is an Udaloy-class destroyer which has been in active service since 1988,” it said. The “friendly” visit will include a meeting between the ship’s crew and Burma Navy officers, and the ship will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, the report said.
