Burma’s Red Cross Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) are now providing aid to displaced people near the remote town of Putao, Kachin State, according to a press release. In the statement Wednesday, the ICRC said more than 200 people in two camps around Burma’s northernmost town were displaced by fighting in 2011 and in August last year between the Burma Army and the Kachin Independence Army. It said arrangements had been made to get food, blankets and winter clothing to the displaced people.
