Police are investigating an alleged arson attack on an Islamic school in Rangoon, Eleven Media reports. In the early hours of Wednesday morning, three unidentified people threw torches onto the thatched roof of the school in Thingangyun Township. “We rushed to the scene,” the township police captain told Eleven Media. “As we managed to control the situation, nothing further happened.” The schoolmaster, two teachers and five neighbors are being questioned, he told the news agency. In April, a fire at an Islamic boarding school in Botahtaung Township killed 13 children. Authorities blamed that incident on an overheated voltage regulator.
