US President Barack Obama will return to Burma this year, the Myanmar Times reports, citing a senior US State Department official. Deputy Secretary of State Bill Burns announced in a speech on Tuesday that Obama would travel “later this fall” to Burma, China and Australia, as part of his “enduring commitment to enhancing security, prosperity, human dignity and effective regional architecture across the Asia-Pacific.” The White House has not confirmed what would be Obama’s second trip to Burma, after he became the first sitting US president to visit the country in November 2012.
