Direct flights between Rangoon and the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka resumed Monday after a six-year hiatus, state media reports. The Burmese government-owned New Light of Myanmar said Thursday that Bangladesh’s Biman airlines used to fly the direct route between the two countries six years ago, “But its operation mission failed due to lack of passengers,” the report quoted airline official Ma Thazin as saying, adding that demand for the flight was now going up. “It will fly Monday and Thursday weekly. Later, the plan is underway to extend flights.”
