The number of Burmese nationals traveling abroad continues to rise, Eleven Media reported on Tuesday. More than 380,000 Burmese citizens are now traveling outside the country annually, Aung Zaw Win, the director general for the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, was quoted as saying. “In 2011, around 900 traveled abroad every day. And in 2012, the daily number reached about 1,000. Now, the total number is over 380,000 every year,” he said. They travel for a variety of reasons, from business to leisure to medical tourism, visiting neighboring Southeast Asian nations, China, Japan and South Korea, according to the report.
