Kuala Lumpur police have formed a special squad to investigate an assassination attempt against two Arakanese leaders, Malaysian state media reports. Member of Burma’s Parliament Aye Maung, chairman of the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party and Arakan League for Democracy Chairman Aye Thor Aung were in a car with two other Burmese when gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on the vehicle on Feb. 5. Bernama reported that a team would investigate CCTV footage, as well as a possible link to the murder of Ko Aung Kyi, a former 88 Generation activist and also an Arakanese, who was killed in Kuala Lumpur on Feb. 4.
