Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd, one of the world’s largest accounting firms, will open its first office in Burma in January, according to a report by Reuters. Chaly Mah Chee Kheong, the company’s chief executive for the Asia Pacific region, said that Deloitte had identified a local partner and would formally announce the move in December. He added that initial investments will be slow and that the company will put in a “few million dollars” to start its operations in the country. Th e company is the latest to join the rush into Burma in search of business opportunities as it open up for investment.
