6 September 2012
A fact-finding mission from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) travelled to Burma on Wednesday to investigate the alleged recent violence and human rights abuses against Rohingya Muslims in Arakan State. The mission is due to meet government officials in Naypyidaw before heading to towns in the affected region, including Sittwe, Buthidaung and Maungdaw. The fact-finding mission paves the way for the upcoming visit of OIC Secretary-General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu.
