Indonesia Boosts Security at Buddhist Sites on Islamic Holiday

As Indonesia celebrated the Islamic holiday of Eid al-Fitr on Thursday, the country tightened security at Buddhist sites following an attack last weekend at a temple in Jakarta, AFP reports. One person was injured when a small bomb went off at the Buddhist temple on Sunday, in an attack that was believed to have been motivated by the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Buddhist-majority Burma. Amid fears that further attacks could occur Thursday on the Islamic holy day, security was boosted at Buddhist sites including the famous Borobudur temple, where the number of police and guards was doubled, AFP reported.
