India’s Minister of External Affairs Salman Khurshid is to use his first foreign visit to enhance bilateral relations with Burma, the Deccan Herald reports. He will visit Naypyidaw and meet with President Thein Sein during his three-day visit, which starts on Friday. He will also visit Rangoon and attend a ceremony to mark the unveiling of the Sarnath Buddha Statue at Shwedagon Pagoda, which is a gift from India. Thein Sein will also visit New Delhi on Dec. 20 and 21 next for the India-ASEAN commemorative summit.
