Around 300 people joined an International Day of Peace rally through Rangoon on Saturday wearing blue t-shirts printed with anti-war slogans. Unlike last year, when 11 people were arrested in connection with a similar but unauthorized rally, this year’s protest was approved by the authorities. “The government needs to listen to the voice of the people. I think they are beginning to acknowledge that responsibility,” said Moe Thway of Generation Wave, one of the event’s organizers. A total of around 60 different groups were represented at the protest on Saturday, according to a report by AFP.
