The health of veteran journalist and well-known National League for Democracy co-founder Win Tin has improved, a family friend told The Irrawaddy, saying a ventilator had been removed and that the 84-year-old was able to speak and was even back to writing articles for local publications. Win Tin, who remains in intensive care, was reportedly in critical condition last week after he checked into the hospital with respiratory problems in mid-March. Zaw Myo Aung, a friend of Win Tin, added that the 11 specialist doctors were monitoring the condition of the democracy campaigner, who is still relying on a feeding tube.
